The holidays are coming around, and besides all the joy and cheer and other festive imagery you get around this time of year, gamers are treated to “New Game Day” a day in which, in all hopes, their loved ones got the hint and purchase them a brand new game or expansion for them to obsess over until New Years. Of course with New Game Day comes new holiday releases, and if you are a concerned parent shopper, or perhaps simply a gamer that doesn't yet know what he wants for this year's New Game Day, here is some of the latest holiday release news for you to get your lists right.

The Continuum – Beginning's End



The Continuum had a full game update right before the holidays, including a brand new “workshop” and a whole new slew of skills to change the way this internet miniatures game was played. Now, to capitalize on it, The Continuum released a brand new expansion called Beginning's End. The Expansion features 10 new characters, over 200 new workshop recipes, a new battlefield and many reworked game mechanics. Older expansions are now folded into newer expansions once they are unavailable for purchase. This means that players have a chance on getting units they missed out on in more recent expansions. This new expansion also reworked the rarity system, making it easier to get some important miniatures in boosters. Add to all this expanded avatar support, game system balances, and overall interface improvements and you have a solid game for anyone looking to expand their collectible hobby into online gaming.

World of Warcraft Miniatures Deluxe Edition



Only a few days ago the World of Warcraft Miniatures Deluxe Edition hit shelves. Meant to expand upon the original success of WoW starters and boosters, Deluxe Edition includes six figures, as opposed to 4 in normal starters and 3 in boosters. The figures will be 3 each from two different factions, allowing two players to play with one Deluxe Edition starter. The Deluxe Edition will also include Ubases for all characters, interchangeable action bar cards, a high quality game map, an enhanced beginner's guide, and custom World of Warcraft Miniatures dice. Each Deluxe Edition pack will also come with a special Drums of War loot card, which will allow players of the World of Warcraft online game to unlock exclusive cosmetic upgrades. Since the Deluxe Edition is enough for 2 players to play, this gift is perfect for any casual miniatures gamer, or for a hardcore gamer looking to break into WoW minis, the Deluxe Edition pack includes more cards and units than any other pack. Star Wars Galaxies – Squadrons Over Corelia



The Star Wars Galaxies online trading card game is receiving its first major expansion in a few days Squadrons Over Corelia. Sony has been very tight lipped about this one and hasn't given previews to anyone, other than the previews featured on their very own site. However there are some details we can divulge. Some of the new cards you will see in Squadrons Over Corelia are spacecraft, which focus on maneuverability and the ability to aid ground troops. Players will also now have the ability to create Rodian or Wookie avatars, each with unique abilities. In addition to all of this new fan favorites are getting cards, such as Han Solo, Jabba the Hutt, and even Emperor Palpatine, just in time for his participation in Mage Month. The expansion will be 250 cards big and will elaborate on current Star Wars Galaxies strategies. This in addition to new loot cards, new scenarios, and new gameplay modes allows Squadrons Over Corelia to really flesh out the Star Wars Galaxies online card game, and makes a couple boosters, or a starter and a Sony Online account another good holiday choice for a Star Wars fan you love.

Alteil – Childs Play Charity Postcards
