Any avid follower of the Massivley Multiplayer Collectible Dueling Game, appropriately titled
Duels, can tell you that
Noble Set II, the second
Duels base set has been around for a while.
Duels, unlike other collectible games, generally schedules its releases around how quickly an expansion or core set sells out. So while some expansions sell like crack flavored hotcakes, others take a while due to the creation of too many packs. Remember Duelists, core sets are the bread and butter of any collectible card game. It's a nice breath of fresh air in preparation for the next big
Duels expansion coming out in late July.
The
Duels Team was nice enough to give us a sneak peak at some of the rarer items of
Noble Set III, and we are bringing them to you right before the set release. One of them seems to fit the role of a jack of all trades, and the other seems to help out brawlers who have a penchant for slaying mages. Both of them are a bit unique in their design, but their effectiveness is something I will let you decide.

Grundles Bloody Mits have an interesting story revolving around them being just too comfortable to take off, and that I think is the most intimidating thing about them. Like a chair that is too comfortable to get out of or a bed that is so comfortable that you never wake up, these gloves are so comfortable they cause people to die, generally by bludgeoning. How the gloves represent comfort is rather interesting, in that they give pretty nice stat bonuses across the board, starting at a high of 29 for stamina and finishing off at a low of 5 (after a gradual curve) for intelligence and resistance. This along with its bonuses of 306 armor, 68 defense, and its percentage bonuses to critical, dodge, and hit really boils it all down to one thing, comfort is good.
Since the highest bonus these grant you comes in the form of stamina, brawling types probably will benefit the most, but rogues will do well from the 20 boost in perception, and anyone can really benefit from the 17 boost to strength and the 12 boost to speed. In fact the only class that these comfy comfy gauntlets don't benefit is your random run of the mill mage, who already wears long flowing robes, so he doesn't need any more comfort! So if you just so happen to be a warlord who's old gauntlets are just not making the cut anymore, come on down to your local
Duels equipment emporium and pick up a pack of
Noble Set III for your chance at wearing the most comfortable gauntlets in the universe. Patent pending. All rights reserved. Note: Gauntlets may not actually be comfortable.

Ah, now this is what I call effective. Let me tell you a little personal history about myself. I hate mages. No seriously, I really really do. I had always preferred to get down and dirty, beating someone to death with my own hands or cutting them apart with an implement of sharp and pointy destruction, but then a mage comes along and runs away as he throws fire at me. ANNOYANCE! So this beauty, this is the sword for me!
The Spellvoid Sword gives a modest 10 boost to strength and stamina and a bigger 20 boost to speed, to allow you to dodge bolts of lightning and balls of fire. It also gives you a +3% boost to dodge and hit and a +7% boost to critical, but by far the greatest thing about this gleaming green piece of mage mashery is its +40 to resistance, giving you a bit of a wall between you and the next arcane spell that is going to be thrown at your face.
The unfortunate thing about Spellvoid Sword is that it is in fact NOT a jack of all trades piece of equipment, and I don't mean this in the way that the most comfortable gauntlets in the world are a jack of all trade piece of equipment. What I mean is that when you build your
Duels character, you generally want to make a build that can handle everything. The Spellvoid Sword is a piece of equipment that explicitly does NOT handle everything. It in fact only handles one thing, that being mages. So if you are using the Spellvoid Sword you either need to compensate with the rest of your equipment, or just pick on mages. I personally will choose to just pick on mages.
Noble Set III is an interesting set as far as
Duels Sets go because it does show a bit of a new design philosophy. Whereas in the other sets you were able to say “this is the rogue weapon, this is the mage weapon, this is the fighter weapon” so on so forth, the weapons in
Noble Set III seem to cross over classes. They can do this by being specifically anti class weapons, or by giving a nice spread across all stats. I am a gigantic minmaxer, so I personally believe these weapons are less effective than ones that accentuate your strengths, however the numerous
Duels combatants that beat me over the head with these weapons till I die seem to think otherwise. As time goes on we will give you a full interview about
Noble Set III with the
Duels design team, so for the best
