DRAGON MONTH - ROUND 3

Last week we went into round 2 of our Dragon Month matchups, and to our surprise, these matchups were even more one sided than our first round matchups. 4 dragon icons of the collectible gaming world met up and only two were victorious. Who will win the finals and take home the crown as the most awesome dragon in all collectible gaming history? Who stands as one of the most powerful dragons of all time? Well that is something only you can help us decide. But before we get to that, let's look at how last week's battles panned out.

Let me say one thing, this battle is all about the fans, and the fans came out in even greater force this week than they did last week. Many cheered, some threw insults, some even got violent, you know like a good soccer match. Though these battles were rather one sided, there was no shortage of controversy in the matchups. Fear not, all of our combatants were checked for steroids, enchanted artifacts, and trap cards before each match.

Shivan Dragon VS Charizard

Shivan Dragon is not the best dragon of Magic today, but he was a beast back in the day and had power comparable to the strongest yugioh card. Charizard has bad*** written all over it, no matter how old he gets. –SkyScourgeGod

Gotta choose Big Red to win in anything. Zard has the amazing ability to survive virtually any attack thrown at it, whether by dodging or just by taking the hit and giving it back double. -Bullados

Shivan Dragon is one of the oldest, most powerful, and ancient dragons of all time, being that it is the dragon icon from Magic: The Gathering. Unfortunately, old age does not necessarily bring more power. Shivan Dragon has been reprinted more times than any of our other combatants, and while he is still more iconic than many other dragons (he still shows up in MTG advertisements) other dragons have evolved while he has not. Though he has potentially infinite power via his fire breathing ability, he is not as intelligent as either his older cousins such as Nicol Bolas, or his younger cousins such as Niv-Mizzet. He hasn't been part of an insta-win combo like Bogardan Helkite, and he isn't one of the fabled three color dragons either. In the end, Shivan Dragon was just past his prime, and Charizard took advantage of this.

If Charizard proved anything in his battle with Terra-Kahn it's that he excels at taking out beasts that are bigger than him, and this worked to his advantage. Shivan could fill the whole room with fire and his massive girth, but fire doesn't hurt Charizard much, and being big just made Shivan slower. Not only that, but Charizard has amassed several powerful techniques through the years with his multiple versions and reprintings. Overall this was a battle of the old school versus the new school, and unfortunately for fans of Magic, the new school contender from Pokemon won. How? Well to be honest, he simply withstood the test of time better than others. The question is: how will he fare in the finals?

Blue Eyes White Dragon V Onyxia

As far as the BEWD dragon is concerned, he will win. For most dragons, the sky is the limit in terms of power, but in the Yugioh world, it is only the beginning. –LIGHTNINGBLITZ

The speed and aggression of Blue-Eyes is just too much to handle, no matter how smart Onyxia is supposed to be. -NYYankees5294

Blue-Eyes Dragon overpowers Onyxia –Mecha

If there was ever a battle with an unexpected outcome, it was this one. Both battles had clear victors, however this battle was much more of a landslide than our first. That tells you something about how much faith people had in Blue Eyes. He was up against essentially a primordial force of magic, an entity with ties to the very origin of the World of Warcraft… and he stomped all over her face. Onyxia didn't even get a chance to cast one single spell. They entered the ring and before the bell even rang, Blue Eyes was pummeling her to the ground. Remember, all combatants were searched for trap cards before the matches started so this was just a battle of raw power.

How did Blue Eyes win? Was it the giant laser blasts he fires from his mouth? Was it the sheer power and aggression he has? Was it Onyxia's intelligence causing hesitation? Well none of us could actually see much of the battle through the dust clouds and rubble. All we know is that fans of Blue-Eyes were chanting much louder than fan's of Onyxia and in the end, Blue-Eyes stood victorious. Massive controversy erupted, as to whether or not Blue-Eyes's fans unfairly helped him to win this battle, but do not fear, we checked it out, and Blue-Eyes won, fair and square.

Commentary on this week's matchup

These two titans come from opposite ends of the TCG spectrum, however they also are well known for the children's TV shows that feature them in starring roles. Yu-Gi-Oh VS Pokemon, the battle of children's franchises is about as epic as anyone could have wanted, but how will the competitors do in this final battle?

Charizard seems to be in the same position he has been in since the very first battle he fought in this competition that is, facing off against a dragon that is much larger and much more powerful in terms of raw power than he is. He started with Terra Kahn, and then blew past Shivan, and now here he is facing off against the dragon that practically has power in his middle name, the Blue-Eyes-White-Dragon, a combatant whose power has taken out some of the most powerful beings in existence. Will Charizard be able to defeat Blue-Eyes with the cunning and skill he has employed in his past few battles? Or will Blue-Eyes's sheer power take out Charizard much like it did Onyxia?

On the flip side of the coin, Blue-Eyes is also facing the same battle he faced throughout the competition, facing a dragon that is less powerful but much more versatile and intelligent than he is. The sheer force of Blue Eyes's power has blown past a primordial shadow being in Blue Dragon, and a powerful black dragon mage in Onyxia. However, Charizard has proven in the past that it wasn't his power but his skill that won the day. Can Blue Eyes's incredible strength triumph over Charizard, master of flame? Or will Charizard prove to be too crafty even for the strongest of brutes?

It's the final that some people predicted, Charizard versus Blue-Eyes-White-Dragon. However, this battle is going to be fought a little differently. No more Mr. Nice Guy, the kid gloves are off. Call it an experiment. For our previous two rounds, we had a poll and all you had to do was click your dragon's name and vote (or in the case of some…er… questionable applicants… you could also click the dividing line). Anyway, this isn't the case anymore. It is now all out forum warfare. We are still counting your votes, by reading your forum posts. Now click and run now my friends, if you want your vote to count, you need to give us a reason. So as they fight it out, it's time for YOU to fight it out as well.
