MAGE MONTH - ROUND 2
The first round of Mage Month is over and never have we had such a controversial set of battles. The votes were up and down and sides changed back and forth many times this round, and some spectacular upsets were seen. Not only that, but this time I think we were more concerned about the violence in the stands than violence in the ring. Fan support came out so strong this month that we were afraid a genuine soccer riot was going to start. Luckily we had our honorary mentions work as bouncers and most fans stopped choking each other when Orochimaru entered the fray.
However, we all know what you want to see, and that is results. So let's take a look at how week one turned out.
Palpatine V Rukia – Winner Palpatine
This one goes to the emperor, I don't know much about Bleach but I can't think of a way Rukia could get out of a Force Choke. – Livingshadow
Palpatine and Rukia will be at it for some time. but Rukia will most likely loose since Palpatine can possess an endless amount of bodies and Rukia is not that skilled in Kidou. I don't think that Rukia will be able to banish Palpatine, Palpatine is bound to the force and thus spiritually immortal. –karas472
Perhaps the most startling thing about the Palpatine/Rukia fight is that someone actually said “I have no idea who Palpatine is.” Maybe I am getting a little old but I always thought the emperor… from STAR WARS was a pretty big icon. Still, Star Wars fans came out in droves and slowly but surely overpowered the Bleach fans, with Palpatine eventually beating Rukia with a two to one vote.
The general consensus was that Rukia simply wasn't powerful enough to handle Palpatine. Sure she might have destroyed one body or two, but after that no one had confidence that she would be able to destroy or banish his soul. Though Rukia is a god, gods in the Bleach universe are mortal, and that means that eventually Palpatine simply wore her down, taking the round one victory.
Daigotsu V Dark Magician – Winner Daigotsu
Daigotsu doesn't even need to use his powers against Dark Magician. Dark Magician is allegedly just a human. Daigotsu can simply sneak on him (goju power, ninja style) out iaijutsu him (quick katana draw) and cut his head off. End of story. -Alphast
I can't believe I'm actually voting FOR Daigotsu on anything. But realistically he has the most followers (a whole clan), has killed two emperors, came back from the dead, fooled the god of death, destroyed a supposedly eternal city, won against the most powerful demons (oni) alive, and even gets an ogre lord to be his son's body guard. That's even before we go into his true power. –mattvoid
Even though Dark Magician was our underdog for this competition, this round was in fact the most surprising out of all of them. Blue-Eyes-White-Dragon took the gold last competition and for a while we thought it was possible for Dark Magician to go all the way as well. He had a very powerful vote spike right out the gate, but slowly Daigotsu caught up and overtook him, eventually winning by only 30-ish votes.
This competition was also one of the most violently debated. Fans brought up Daigotsu's past accomplishments versus Dark Magicians celestial powers. Dark Magician was accomplished in his own right, but Daigotsu's actions literally shaped the world he was in. Though evil, the world of Rokugan simply would not have been the same if Daigotsu had not run through his paths of terror. The Dark Magician was a toolbox of spells, and could take higher forms, but none of these forms were enough to outsmart and out fight Daigotsu, gaining him the win.
Maxxor V Urza – Winner Urza
Urza is probably my pick to take the whole shebang... Urza in a landslide – mtglordtom24
I need to point out Urza was a Planeswalker there for he had infinite access to magic along with knowledge of many spells. Another thing He could always Planeswalk Maxxor to another place pop back and win by default. – Endingtheme
This was yet another controversial battle, which started out with a gigantic push of votes for Maxxor. If anything this battle showed us the sheer might and power of Chaotic fans, and of denizens of the Chaotic universe. Maxxor was winning most of the time, but Urza slowly but surely snuck up and overtook him winning only by 20-ish votes, even less than the Dark Magician/Daigotsu battle.
Another violently argued battle (though not near as violent as our previous one) this battle centered around two things, Maxxor's physical prowess and Urza's identity as a planeswalker. Planeswalkers in Urza's time were as immortal as immortal could be, however in recent times they have become weaker and more vulnerable. Maxxor is probably the most powerful denizen of the Overworld in Chaotic, however that still doesn't make him immortal. The question was whether or not Maxxor could beat Urza into submission, instead of death, and the answer was a very close no. Maxxor did look like he was going to win but in the end Urza pulled it off, most likely with some help from his magically powered giant fighting robots.
Dr. Strange V Jaina Proudmoore – Winner Dr. Strange
All I know is Dr Strange is the Scorcerer Supreme and has defeated Gods. – mike lopez
I'll vote for any comic genius like Dr. Strange. - Bullados
An unfortunate loss for World of Warcraft fans, this battle actually went down very quietly into the night. Strange had a strong starting lead over Jaina and kept it for most of the battle, straight through till the end. Jaina fought valiantly but Earth's Sorcerer Supreme was just too much for her.
Unfortunately the arguments for and against Strange and Jaina were overshadowed and drowned out by the roars of arguments over our other three fights so there isn't much to report here. In the end Jaina was mortal, and though she was the most powerful human mage of her realm, that was only saying so much for her. Onyxia did well in Dragon month week one but lost in week two, so World of Warcraft has not had the best track record, but considering that World of Warcraft is played by MILLIONS its really only a matter of time until someone from their universe makes it into the finals.

This of course brings us to this week's matchups, and I assure you they will be interesting indeed.
Palpatine V Daigotsu
It's a battle of immortals. Both of these combatants will be possessing bodies this way and that after their current bodies inevitably die. Two political masterminds that have shaped entire universes to their dark whims, this battle will be bloody and manipulative. The only question is, what will prevail, the force, or the power of the shadowlands.
Urza V Dr. Strange
Both of these combatants are also immortals however they were human once as well. They both have powerful artifacts at their disposal and infinite knowledge to draw on. Both have traveled the multiverse and seen the mysteries lie within. Once again this will come down to who has more tricks up their sleeves. Will Urza's artifacts win, or is the power of the Marvel Universe truly supreme.
